What can we learn from Captain Sir Tom Moore?

Children's Mental Health Week!

Oak National Academy has teamed up with Place2Be and BAFTA Kids to create a free assembly for Children's Mental Health Week 2021, celebrating this year's theme of “Express Yourself”.

Join Blue Peter’s Lindsey Russell and CBBC presenter Rhys Stephenson alongside some other special well-known faces for a free and exciting assembly available to all children, schools and families.

We're bringing the nation's children together (virtually!) with a positive message about the power of creative self-expression.

When Emotions Explode

Bedtime ideas:

Switching off after at day of home-learning can be hard. Try out these bath time ideas to support end of the day routines.

Bath time:

Spend some time making paper boats to use in the bath. Try making them from different materials and seeing which one stays afloat the longest! How to Make a Paper Boat: 10 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow

Try playing with different toys in the bath; lego, dolls, cars?!

Glow-sticks in the water a great; especially if you turn the lights off!

Why not spray some shaving foam on the side of the bath and write or draw in it?

Make your own bubble mixture and try to blow different shapes while in the bath. How big can you make your bubbles? Easy Bubble Mixture Recipe Without Glycerine // Mum on a Budget

Get outside!

Find a footpath you've not walked before. Try this site for ideas:

https://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/environment/RightsofWay/PromotedRoutes/Stafford-walks.aspx

Go for a short walk round the block at lunchtime, children love to copy adults so take a lidded cup with your favorite drink in and chat about what you can see.

Go to the park in the dark with an adult, wear a head torch or carry a torch and have fun while its quiet. (We pinched this one from one of our Year 1 children!)

On a clear night go outside and spot stars. See how many constellations you can recognise. You might be able to download an app for a phone to help you spot them.
