Article 13
You have the right to find out things and share what you think with others, by talking, drawing,
writing or in any other way unless it harms or offends other people.
“Art is not just a subject to learn, but an activity that you can practise with your hands, your eyes, your whole personality.”
(Quentin Blake)
Our Vision:
Art, craft and design allow us to display some of the highest forms of human creativity. At Cooper Perry Primary School art and design education engages, inspires and challenges all pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design, both independently and collaboratively. They draw on their own experiences of the world and at the same time are inspired by adults around them and examples of art and design ,in both , our current and historical world. As pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a rigorous understanding of art and design.
Children in our school say these things about art and design:
'I would change nothing about how art is taught because it's great fun'
'I like being creative and having fun'
' I enjoy working on projects where we can work together.'
'art is very exciting and you have a relaxed time.'
' I like getting creative; I enjoy drawing in pastel and sketching.'
The new National Curriculum for Art (Sept 2014) aims to ensure that all children:
- produce creative work, explore ideas and record experiences,
- become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
- evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of at, craft and design,
- know about great artists, craft makers and designers and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
