Personal Development and Wellbeing at Cooper Perry

At Cooper Perry, we are committed to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment that embodies our core values of respect, kindness, open-mindedness, responsibility, and resilience. Our new embedded behaviour curriculum is consistently modelled by both staff and pupils, creating a positive atmosphere conducive to learning and personal development.

We are excited to introduce Kapow scheme, a structured and comprehensive PSHE curriculum designed to better support our pupils’ personal growth. In alignment with this initiative, we are exploring ways to integrate the No Outsiders Programme, further promoting inclusivity and understanding of diversity.

Additionally, the implementation of The Zones of Regulation aids pupils in developing emotional awareness and self-regulation skills, essential for navigating their social and academic lives. Recognising the importance of mental health and self-care, we have adopted the Five Ways to Wellbeing approach, reinforcing these principles throughout our school community.

Our Forest School programme remains a valued component of our curriculum, promoting resilience and well-being through outdoor learning experiences. Early Years and Key Stage 1 now benefit from weekly sessions, while other year groups engage in this enriching activity for a term. This year, the introduction of the OPAL programme during lunchtimes will further support positive behaviour and well-being through creative play opportunities.

This year we will launch ‘Cooper Perry Champion Moments’, which will provide enriching opportunities that enhance our pupils’ educational and cultural journeys. Furthermore, we are dedicated to developing pupil leadership; our School Council empowers pupils in Years 2 to 6 to have a voice in school decisions. Safeguarding and Well-being Ambassadors represent their peers’ views, while OPAL Ambassadors encourage active outdoor play. Year 6 pupils also take on leadership roles as House Captains and School Ambassadors, fostering personal growth and contributing positively to our school community.

Together, these initiatives enhance the educational experience and broaden opportunities for all pupils at Cooper Perry.
