Geography at Cooper Perry
Our Geography curriculum is rooted in our school values and aims to inspire children’s natural curiosity about the world and its people. We want pupils to explore, question and develop a deep appreciation for the places, environments and communities that shape our planet.
We are committed to equipping children with the geographical knowledge and skills they need to understand both the human and physical aspects of the world. Through studying places, people, and natural and human environments, pupils build a secure understanding of the Earth’s key features, patterns and processes.
Geography is, by nature, an investigative subject. Through engaging and enquiry-led teaching, we encourage pupils to think critically, ask meaningful questions and seek answers through exploration, observation and research. This approach helps children develop a strong sense of place and a clearer understanding of their role within the wider world.
We also believe that geography should be experienced in real contexts. Pupils learn using a wide range of resources and are given regular opportunities to take part in fieldwork, both within the school grounds and during off-site visits. These hands-on experiences bring geography to life, deepen understanding, and help children connect classroom learning with the world around them.
