Early Years at Cooper Perry

At Cooper Perry Primary School, we believe that the Early Years Foundation Stage is the most important part of a child’s educational journey. It is here that strong foundations are laid for future learning and success. Our vision is to create a nurturing, stimulating, and inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to learn. We want our youngest learners to develop a love of learning, resilience, and independence through experiences that spark curiosity and creativity.

Our EYFS curriculum is carefully designed to follow children’s interests while ensuring progression in key areas such as word reading, early mathematics, handwriting, spelling, and communication skills. High-quality interactions between staff and children underpin everything we do, supporting language development and critical thinking. Through a balance of purposeful play and direct teaching, we provide opportunities for children to explore, question, and consolidate their understanding in meaningful ways.

We work in close partnership with parents and carers, recognising that strong relationships are essential for every child’s success. Together, we ensure that learning continues beyond the classroom and that every child feels supported and celebrated. By the end of Reception, our children leave as confident, happy learners who are ready for the next stage of their education, equipped with the skills and enthusiasm to thrive in Key Stage 1 and beyond.
