Art

Intent

At Cooper Perry the teaching of art follows a sequential skills progression, it is engaging, inspiring and challenging to all children. During their time at Cooper Perry children will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own art work which they are proud of.

 Implementation

All children will:

  • produce creative work, exploring ideas and recording their experiences through a range of activities; recording from first-hand experiences and from imagination and selecting their own ideas to use in their work
  • develop their skills in drawing, painting, sculpturing and other techniques
  • improve their ability to control art media, materials, tools and techniques safely
  • be encouraged to critically evaluate their own work and that of others including work of artist through history in order to learn from their experiences

Impact

By the time children leave Cooper Perry they will be confident artists, who can draw, paint, print, make collages and use sculpture materials.  The children will be confident to use their knowledge along with the skills they have been taught to produce individual, paired and group pieces of art work. They will also be able to evaluate their work as well as the work of others.
