You have the right to a good quality education. You should be encouraged to go to school to the highest level you can.
Your education should help you use and develop your talents and abilities. It should also help you learn to live peacefully, protect the environment and respect other people.
We have had such a busy week this week! We have done lots of wonderful things to share with you so please have a look at the photos below.
Thank you for all the food donations for the Christmas party, the children had so much fun!
Thank you for all of the lovely cards and presents. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a good rest.
Thank you for your continuing support this term and I look forward to seeing you all in the new year.
We have had another lovely week in year 1 as we have begun our preparations for the Christmas production and had so much fun in our pyjamas today. Please see our below for some wonderful pyjama and onesie pictures!
This week’s homework: for our new history topic ‘Scientists’ please could children carry out some research on a famous scientist of their choice, including information on:
Children have also been given their completed mental maths tests to go over. (They’re getting harder!)
We have introduced a new spelling method across the school. This will give children more targeted spellings and be linked to their phonic level. For more information on this please see this week’s newsletter. In year 1 children have been given a pale blue spelling book which will go home with their spellings in for the following Friday. These books must come back to school on the following Friday for new spellings to be written in.
Thank you for your continuing support!
Thank you families of year 1 for coming to our open afternoon!
On Wednesday, the children were very excited as we had some very special visitors! Thank you to all who attended, we had a lot of fun showing you a taster of what we get up to in year 1 and hope you had a lot of fun too. As the children were so sensible on this afternoon, we were awarded with class of the week!
Please see the photos below of the afternoon.
Welcome to Year 1!
I hope you have all had a fantastic summer!
The children have been working really hard this week to get used to their new routine and have been working together brilliantly. They have already started work on their new topic ‘Stafford and the seaside’ and we have enjoyed hearing everybody’s holiday stories.
Mrs Squires and I have been so impressed with the children’s behaviour this week and they have enjoyed earning lots of house points and raffle tickets! Keep it up J
I am really excited about the year ahead and hope the children are too. We have many exciting things planned, starting with ‘Roald Dahl’ day next Friday, so keep an eye out for some wonderful photos of our costumes.
I will look forward to getting to know you all and if you do have anything you wish to discuss please don’t hesitate to contact me. I will be available before and after school to speak to directly or you can contact me via the school office.
