Dear Year 4,

After our half term break, we will be investigating life during the time of the Viking Invasions. We will learn about life at the time of the Vikings and The Anglo Saxons. Hopefully, it will be an interesting and exciting topic.

I have added some web links to our web page and I would like you to spend some time checking through them and learning some facts about these two cultures.

I would like you to select something you can make, either independently or with the help of your family. It could be: a helmet, a shield, a boat, a piece of jewellery, a scene from a village – diorama, a piece of pottery/kitchenware, clothing, footwear for example; something which may have been found during an excavation. We will then create a class museum where we will be the curators and invite other classes to visit our museum.

Could each artefact please:

  • be in school for Monday 5th March.

  • be labelled with details you think are important: date, name of artefact, where it was ‘found’, (you can use the label template below or design your own)

  • have your name on it

I hope you enjoy researching and making; I can’t wait to visit our museum.

Dear Families,

If I haven't seen you already: 'Happy New Year, may it be happy and healthy for all of us'. Secondly, Mrs Georgiou and I would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for the amazing presents you gave us for Christmas; we were overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity- thank you.

 

Below I've enclosed a copy of this term's planning hexagons so you can see the curriculum coverage. A large part of this term will be spent working around the text, 'Treasure Island'. After introducing the story today we are about to re write the book as a play script.

 

In maths we will develop our fluency. reasoning and problem solving of fractions.

 

Homework will be set as usual on a Friday with the understanding it should be back in school the following Thursday. Spelling tests will now be on a Thursday after PE.

 

Please would you ensure the children have indoor and outdoor PE kits this term since we will go outside if the weather is kind to us, alternatively we will be inside covering Sports Hall Athletics and gymnastics.
