Welcome back to school and Year 4. We hope your summer was sunny and restful. The team is really looking forward to working alongside you and your child this year. We’ve had a great few days getting to know one another and we’ve already started our new year’s learning. Independence for learning is essential this year and we have shared our expectations and together discussed what we all need to do to ensure the children are more self-reliant in school and at home – fingers crossed! The classroom charter is visible in our shared area as well as in the front of diaries.
Below you will find a medium-term plan showing an outline of our areas of study. We endeavour to work in a creative manner and approach learning in a variety of ways in order to allow all children to succeed. Homework will continue to be given in a variety of formats: weekly - spellings, maths, SPaG, comprehension etc; incidental – something for the next day eg. 5 alternatives for the word ‘go’; ongoing - reading and tables and a longer project, usually over half a term with family support. We have explained our expectations as far as homework presentation is concerned and provided a folder for homework to be kept in.
Please could PE kits (including a sweat shirt, joggers and trainers) be sent into school at the beginning of each week and we will send them home on Fridays. Diaries and reading books should be in school daily.
We reiterate the observations of our Ofsted inspection to improve punctuality, and ask you to support us by ensuring children are in school before the register closes at 9:05am.
School diaries and our web page are crucial means of communication, so please check both to keep updated. Should you wish to speak to anyone in the team please email myself or ring and make an appointment via the office.
We thank you in advance for the support you give your child and the team.
