Spring Term

Today we started our new science topic. We went on a hunt around our school grounds to find and sort living things, non living things and things that were once alive.

We learnt about primary colours and had a go at mixing paint to see what new colours we could make

Once year 2 have figured out how to make a simple circuit, they then had to test which materials would allow electricity to pass through them.

WOW! Your Polar Region Dioramas are amazing! Thank you for all you hard work - they look fantastic!

Exploring snow and ice for our five senses poem!

Hello families

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all. Thank you very much for all your Christmas wishes, gifts and cards; they are very much appreciated.

We have a very exciting term ahead of us. We will begin our learning through our new topic of the Snow Queen, which will inspire our writing, art and of course will lead to our trip to the New Vic Theatre. Then, our topic will move to the Chronicles of Narnia which will link to our geography where we will be learning about the North and South Pole. Science will be full of exciting experiments and investigations about electricity and living things. If you would like to know what else we will be learning about in year 2 take a look out our hexagons.

PE will be outside when possible, therefore could you please ensure the children have both indoor and outdoor kit in school at all times.

Please could I stress the importance of reading with the children at home and look out for the reading challenge coming home soon.
