We would like to welcome all of the children back to school after the half term break. The children have settled back in very well, and have been working hard in their lessons this week.
This week the children have been learning about time in maths, this involved telling the time and word problems involving time.
Telling the time is a new concept for some of the children and it would be really helpful if they could practice at home, if your child has a watch it is fine for them to wear it at school as this will also encourage them to learn to tell the time.
In literacy we are learning about Enid Blyton, the children have started to write biography's and have completed research on the author. We are reading The Adventures of the Wish Chair in class which the children are enjoying very much.
Our new science topic this half term is Light, we will be learning about shadows and light sources.
We have now completed our Stone Age topic in history, and are moving onto a new geography topic where we will be learning about the school and local area. If you have any photographs of the school or local area from years gone bye that we could borrow we would be very grateful.
We will be visiting the church and the church yard during some of our lessons.
Next week it is arts week and we will be learning about the artist Patrick Caulfield, the children may have already mentioned him as we have been looking at his work this week.
Today we held our talent show auditions, we would like to thank all of the children who auditioned but sadly they can not all go through to the final.
The daytime acts are:
Joseph, Megan, Cameron, Lewis and Madi
Katie, Edith, Isabel and Isabelle
The evening acts are:

The children have quite a lot of homework this week, they need to find 5 facts about The Stone Age for Tuesday, this can be handwritten or computer generated. They also have a maths sheet, literacy word power booklet, spellings and mental maths. As always we are encouraging the children to learn their times tables.
