In our last week of this half term we have finished off thinking about Incy Wincy and spiders. The children have enjoyed using clay to create their own spider and painted some great pictures of what they would like a spider to look like!
We also had a lovely session in the hall when we used a parachute! The children had to run under the parachute when their name was called and change places with a friend, move the parachute up and down quickly to keep the bean bags on and put different parts of their body on the different colours, it was great fun!
We would like to wish you all a very nice break and we will see you half term when our topic will be 'Fruit'.
Mrs Fox & Mrs Blick
The Nursery children have had a great week thinking about Incy Wincy Spider! Our movement session was fun as we creating a large web and the children then had to move like spiders and then collect all the baby spiderlings that had hatched!
We looked at the life cycle of the spider, did a sequencing activity and have drawn spiders to put on a class web. The children will be accessing more activities linked to spiders next week too.
Just a reminder that Parents Evening is next Thursday,11th, and that appointment times will be sent out on Monday.
Baa Baa Black Sheep has been our focus this week. The children have enjoyed using wool to create sheep, fill bags and count with. We watched a clip showing us the journey of wool from the sheep to the ball of wool and the children really enjoyed watching Mrs Blick do some knitting!
Our activities this week have been linked to 'Twinkle Twinkle'. The children moved like stars in our movement session, printed with stars, wrote about what they would 'wish upon a star' for and sorted shiny and non-shiny objects.
We have had a busy week in Nursery with lots of activities linked to Humpty Dumpty. The children have created a class Humpty for our display and done some brick shaped rubbing using sand paper. 'Get Well' cards have been made for Humpty as we talked about our feeling and how we would feel falling off a wall. The children have also been thinking about positional language.
The puppet theatre has been used by the children to act out the rhyme using masks which has been thoroughly enjoyed.
Mrs Blick made the children some 'Snow cloud dough' which the children explored with winter animals. It was messy but great fun!!
Happy New Year to you all and welcome to the Spring term in Nursery.
This half term the children will be thinking about both Winter and Nursery Rhymes. This week we have thought about frost and the children pretended to be 'Jack Frost' in our movement session. They have also decorated their own Jack for display.
We made some 'ice balloons' which were great fun. We talked about how the water freezes and turns to ice and that when you handle and play with the ice it will turn back into water.
Each week we will focus on a different Nursery Rhyme. The children will be involved in various activities linked to the rhyme. Please click on the link below for more details.
