Please see photos below of our assembly, open morning and lunch.

We all really enjoyed our morning, we hope you did too!

This week Reception has been awarded class of the week for an amazing assembly and open morning. I am so proud of them all!

This week we have had a very busy week! We have carried out lots of different activities linked to the story ’The Gruffalo’. We have continued to practise reading and writing tricky words, segmenting words into sound buttons, digraphs and trigraphs. In Maths we have developed our understanding of subtraction. On Tuesday we all made pancakes with Mrs Allpress. We had the choice of lemon juice, chocolate spread or ice cream toppings. Chocolate spread was the most popular. We completed tally charts to show how many children had the different toppings. Miss Harper then taught us how to flip pancakes!

We had lots of fun!

Talent Show - Well Done to Ruby, and Chloe who were voted through to the final on Tuesday. Ruby will be dancing with her big sister and Chloe will be telling jokes.

Reminder – Parent Workshop (Phonics, Reading and Maths)

Tuesday 7th February 2017

3.45PM in Reception Classroom

A crèche will be provided for the children by another member of staff.

Well what another fantastic week we have had in Reception! It started with the children bringing in their AMAZING ice sculptures. What creative imaginations you all have! We kept looking at them during Monday and talked about what we could see and how they had changed. When we came into school on Tuesday we found a big puddle of water from the melted ice. Surprisingly, Thomas G’s was still a little lump of ice.

On Tuesday we went on a super trip to see The Snow Queen. We all really enjoyed the show and did some fabulous writing about the trip on Wednesday.

All the children behaved exceptionally and were a pleasure to take out of school, for this Reception have been awarded CLASS OF THE WEEK!

Please see the letter that went out on Thursday regarding parent workshop.

This week we have continued our learning around the story ‘The Snow Queen’. We have had lots of fun carrying out activities linked to snow and then as if by magic it really snowed on Friday!! Please see the photos below to see what we have been busying doing.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Thank you for all your Christmas wishes, gifts and cards. They were all very much appreciated.

This week the children have enjoyed talking about their photograph of their favourite Christmas present. We have decided that Santa has a very busy job! Thank you to everyone that has returned the checklist sheet, it sounds like everyone had a busy Christmas.

Reminder Time

PE will continue to be on a Wednesday but can PE kits remain in school at all times please. PE will be inside so can all children please have a red pair of shorts, a white polo shirt and pumps. Thank you

Reading is a fundamental skill that you can help your child develop! Every child should be reading at least 3 times a week. When you have heard your child read please write in their reading diary. Today I have told the children that from Monday we are going to start a reading chart, every time they read at home and a comment from parents is written in their diary they get a tick on the reading chart. When they reach 15 they will receive a prize! The children are very excited about it and determined they are going to reach 15!

Letter formation cards went home before Christmas please ensure the children are practicing this at home.

Tricky words sheet has been sent home tonight. The children should be able to read the orange words then move on to reading the purple words. The children will move on to writing them. If you can help your child with this it will be much appreciated.

Clothing - We will be spending a lot of time outside over the next few weeks so can you please make sure your child has a coat that is appropriate for the weather. If you would like to provide your child with some wellies for outdoor learning that is fine just make sure they are named and they can go under your child’s peg.

If your child has come home with any of schools spare clothes please can you return them ASAP. Please can you provide your child with a spare change of clothes just in case they have an accident, fall over or get a little too excited in the water tray!

If you have any questions please ask. Thank you for your continued support.
