We have had a very exciting week this week starting with the wonderful performance. The children worked really hard to make their nativity a success. Mrs Fox and myself were so proud of all the children for their singing and acting. Well done everyone.
We have had a week of creative activities and you will soon get to see what the children have been making.
Next week is D & T week and we will be designing, making, baking and decorating Christmas biscuits. On Thursday we will have a Christmas party. The children will still need to wear their uniform but will be provided with biscuits, cakes and drinks and a disco. It is the Christmas dinner on Thursday lunch time too.
On Friday we will have a Christmas film morning.
Thank you for your continued support during this first term, the children are all settled in the daily routine of school and have formed friendships with each other and the staff.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Please could you check your child's reading bag tonight as they have their words for the Christmas production in them. It would be really helpful if you could practise their lines with them at home.
Mrs J Moore
We would like to welcome the children back to school after the October half term holiday. This is a very exciting half term for the children as we prepare for the Christmas festivities.
During this half term the children will be learning about Winter and Christmas, they will be performing their Christmas production for parents and families, this will include learning lots of new songs, dances and some of the children will have lines to practise too.
This week (9.11.15) is cultural week, all of the children in the school will be learning about different parts of Africa, we are focussing on South Africa and the children will take part in lots of exciting activities.
There will more details about the Christmas production nearer to the date. Please keep checking the website and newsletter.

The children have settled into school very well over the past half term. They are all growing in confidence and developing their independence skills. Most of the children are coming into the class by themselves now and I would like to thank you all for encouraging them to do this. I would like the children to start coming onto the playground by themselves after half term, there will be older children to help them and as always Mrs Wynne is available on the car park gate to take any messages. The children will then be able to walk round to our classroom when the bell goes at 8.50am where I will continue to meet them at the door.
This week has been D & T week across the whole school, in reception we have been designing and making models using various construction sets. The children have been using their imagination and creative skills when building. There are a selection of photographs below to show you what they have been making.
During the second week of the next half term it will be "Cultural Week", the school will be focussing on Africa, looking at the different countries within Africa and their culture.
We will be learning about South Africa, concentrating on the food and art aspects. If you have time over the half term please help your child to understand where South Africa is and a little bit about the countries. This will enable the children to have some understanding of what we are learning during Cultural Week.
Our class topic will be Winter and Christmas next half term, we will be making Christmas decorations, learning songs and looking at how Christmas is celebrated around the world.
I would like to thank you for helping your child to settle into school. The next half term is an exciting one for the younger children as there will be lots of Christmas activities, plays, art and craft. Keep checking the class web page for additional information.
Regards Mrs Moore and Mrs Matthews
This week the children have been practising their writing in many different ways. They have used pencils, pens, chalk, foam and sand. They used their phonic knowledge to help them sound out words. They have been concentrating on writing their names and other words, some of the children have been trying hard to write simple sentences.

The children have settled into full time school really well this week, they have made lots of new friends already.
We have taken lots of photographs which we will put onto the school website next week. Keep checking the reception class page as we update it weekly.
I have some information regarding reading, library, PE and water bottles which should be help you.
Your child now has a reading book and diary in a clear bag, these need to come into school every day so that we can read with them throughout the week. We would really appreciate it if you could also read with your child as often as possible at home. The diary can be used for general communication as well as letting us know when your child has read at home and school. We will listen to the children read twice a week and if they can read their book and talk about the content we will change them. If your child has read their book at home they can also read their library book or their own books, this helps them to widen their knowledge of different kinds of books.
The children will visit the school library every Thursday, they can choose a book to take home to share with their family. These books only need to come back to school on a Thursday.
The children will have their PE lesson on a Wednesday, they will need to come to school in their PE kit on this day, please send your child's uniform into school in their PE bag so that they can get changed after the lesson. The children can wear a track suit or jogging bottoms over their PE kit if they wish.
We have been very pleased with the children's independence this week and have decided that they are ready to be left at the outside door. We will continue to meet them at the door and help them in the cloakroom.
Finally could I just remind everyone that their child needs a named water bottle in school, this is additional to their lunch bottle if they have a packed lunch. We will send them home on a Friday so that they can be washed at the weekend. Please do not put squash or juice in these bottles as all of the children are encouraged to drink water. We have noticed that some uniform in un-named, could you please chat the all of the uniform is names as we are unable to sort lost property if there are no names in them.
I hope the information is helpful, and I would like to thank all of the children and parents for helping to make the first week of term a happy one.
Mrs J Moore
During this half term the children will complete a baseline assessment in line with the local authority guidelines, this involves the children working on a one to one basis with myself. As you can appreciate this will take a few weeks to complete. During this time the children's routine will be slightly different but we will return to normality as soon as the assessments are complete.
We will continue to read with the children as often as possible and books will be changed, it may not always be possible for this to be as regular as it will be next half term.
Thank you for your understanding and support
