We would like to welcome the children back for their last half term in their reception year. We can not believe how quickly the year has gone so far and how much your children have grown in every way.
This half term we will be learning about transport. The children have already been talking about different kinds of transport and sharing their experiences of flying, sailing and cycling.
We will be taking the children to RAF Cosford on 30th June so that they can learn about the transport which was used during the war as well as experiencing the various interactive activities available. Details are in your children's reading bags today ( Friday 5th).
I will be posting photos etc as usual on the website as the term progresses so please keep checking our class page.
On Thursday we had an international day, the children all looked wonderful in their costumes. I would like to say a big thank you to you all for the effort that went into the costumes.
The children took part in a food tasting activity and I have sent their food sheets home for you to see what kind of food they tried. They also made flags to go with their costumes and wrote about their favourite food.
As you can see from the photographs below we all had a super time.
Today we had a visitor from Tesco in Stafford, she came to teach us all about fruit and vegetables.
We tried lots of different food and learned about where the food is grown.
Lots of us were very brave and tried food we hadn't eaten before.
We had a super time with Sharon and she is going to come back in a few weeks and teach us all about bread, she is also going to make pizza with us.
Take a look at the photographs below.
Welcome back to school for the final term of this school year. The children have settled really well this week and have been learning all about healthy food in their topic work.
We felt very proud of them all this morning during their first class assembly. Well done children you were amazing.
Next week we are having a visit from Tesco and we will be learning lots more about the food we eat. Photos will be posted next week.
Below you will find copies of the letters I sent out this week as well as this half terms planning.
Don't forget to join us for Maypole at 2pm next Friday 1st May.

We have had a very busy start to the new half term, last Thursday was treat day and the chidlren had the opportunity to learn lots of circus skills. Alex came into school and taught the children how to spin plates, juggle and use stilts. He demonstrated how to ride a unicycle which the children really enjoyed watching.
There are photos below showing what a wonderful time we all had.
Today is world book day and the children have been swapping their books and sharing books with the older children in class 3. The atmosphere was great and the younger children loved listening to their older friends reading to them.
As part of our ongoing healthy schools award we are encouraging children to choose healthier snacks at home as well as at school. The children in the early years and key stage 1 are only offered fruit at snack time but we are trying to build their awareness of choosing healthy snacks at all times.
I have added the web links to the change 4 life programme which has lots of ideas on promoting healthy eating.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the parents, grandparents and aunties who joined our open morning today. The children really enjoyed sharing their classroom and Socatots activities with you all.
We have taken lots of photographs and below are a few of them.
Please do not hesitate to pop in at the end of school on a Tuesday to have a look at the classroom and at your child's "my journey" book. If you have any information on activities your child does out of school please fill in a leaf or hat so that we can talk about hobbies in class.
Next week it is Cultural week in school, we will be looking at celebrations. We will be learning about weddings from different faiths. If you have a wedding photograph that your child could share with the class this would be much appreciated. It can be the wedding of any family member or friends. If your child has been a bridesmaid or pageboy and you have their outfit it would be great if they could bring them in to share, (wedding dresses too as long as they are not too precious!).
Thank you again for a wonderful morning and the possitive feedback. (Tea, coffee and cakes next time)

The children have had a very busy first week back. They have been learning about Jack and the Beanstalk. This has included lots of writing and acting out the story.
Socatots started on Wednesday and the children really enjoyed the session. This will continue throughout the term as previously. Please send your child to school in their PE kit on a Wednesday, if they have jogging bottoms or tracksuit trousers please can they wear them as it is rather cold at the moment.
Just to remind everyone, the children need to have a drinks container in school at all times as we do not have enough cups for them all to use. Please name the container too.
Happy New Year to all.
Below is the medium term planning for the Spring term. The children will be learning about different fairy tales, kings, queens and castles.
The children have had a wonderful first day back, they settled well and were happy to share their holiday news with us all.
Please keep checking this page as we will be posting information and photographs each week.
The children are bringing Booktime bags home with them today, this is the national free book programme for reception aged children. The programme is designed to promote the pleasure of books by encouraging families to have fun reading together.
For further information on Booktime please see their website: www.booktime.org.uk
The children have settled back into the school routine very well this week. They have been busy learning about Bonfire Night, including the history of The Gunpowder Plot and the safety aspects relating to going to see a firework display.
The children have also been learning about weighing different objects and comparing light and heavy items.
They had lots of fun painting on the table, making patterns and printing onto paper during art this week.

The children are learning lots of new skills in their Socatots lessons. This week they played a new game where they had to kick their footballs into the pond and the big frog "Brett" had to throw them back out. They finished this weeks lesson with a parachute game.
The children loved this new game.
Take a look at the video's below.
Friday 12th September
Roald Dahl Day
We had a fantastic time dressed up as characters from Roald Dahl books. The children learned about Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, sharing their knowledge of the story, drawing and colouring pictures and looking at the different characters in the classroom and on the interactive white board.
As you can see from the photographs the children all look amazing. Thank you for taking so much time and effort to make this a special day.
Dear parents and guardians,
As you can see from the photographs your children have had a wonderful first week in the reception class.
Mrs Dollin and myself have been very impressed by the way the children have settled into school life. We will be spending the next few weeks getting to know the children and helping them to make new friends whilst developing their social skills.
Some of the children found settling in the morning a little tricky but the new coming in routine has helped immensely and all the children have been far happier, we will continue with this until further notice.
Please keep checking the website for further information and photographs.
I would just like to thank the children and parents for helping to make the start of this new school year a happy experience.
