Another busy week in Year 2!

Bread Week in Year 2

As you have probably heard Year 2 received a letter from Paul Hollywood on Monday. The class were given a number of tasks to complete through out the week. Starting with bread tasting, designing their bread roll, deciding on flavouring for their bread and finishing with a 'technical challenge' to make their own flavoured bread roll.

We have had a fantastic week and all the children in Year 2 are born bakers! I am sure they will teach you at home! :)

Please see pictures below.

The Year 2 team would like to say a big thank you to all of Year 2 for their amazing efforts creating fact files on Samuel Pepys. They look AMAZING displayed in our classroom!

Please see pictures below.

Year 2 are very lucky to have Miss Andrews joining us until Christmas. She is currently completing her final placement of PGCE. Miss Andrews will be teaching the children alongside Miss Harper during this time. :)

Hello Families

I hope you have all had a wonderful summer with those you love. smiley

We have had a wonderful first few days in year 2, all the children have settled back into the school routine and are ready to learn! Our topic this term is Fire Fire! In Science we will be learning about materials. On Wednesday afternoons Year 2 will be taught music by Mrs Smith and RE by Miss Grattage.

We strongly encourage all children to be independent and take care of their own belongings, for example uniform, PE kits, water bottles, homework and reading bags etc.

At the end of year 1 staff put your child’s next reading book in their reading bag ready for the beginning of year 2. When your child has read their book a few times and need it to be changed they will need to put it in the grey box in the classroom (as they enter in the morning). A member of staff will lead guided reading with each group on a weekly basis.

Homework will be set on a Friday and due in the following Tuesday. Spellings will also be set on a Friday (starting 15th September) and will be tested the following Friday.

PE will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. PE kits need to be in school at all times in case of last minute changes. Swimming lessons will also take place during year 2; a letter will follow nearer the time.

Water Bottles

All children need to bring a named water bottle to school everyday. Water bottles will be sent home every day.

Please ensure that all school uniform and PE kits are named.

As you can appreciate the beginning of the day is a very busy time in school, if you need to speak to myself or Mrs Squires you can email, ring the office to make an appointment or write a note for your child to pass on to us.

I look forward to working with your children and yourselves.

Miss Harper
