Friday 6th October 2017

What a wonderful week we have had, the children were amazing on our trip to Birmingham, they made us all feel very proud to be with them. Their behaviour and manners were impeccable throughout the day. We have used the resources and knowledge they learned in our lessons this week.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the fantastic homework that has been completed at home. They have been used as a display in the corridor, please pop in and take a look at the end of school.

As promised I am adding photographs below from the trip.

Some of the parents and children have spoken to me about concerns regarding the museum trip to Birmingham, children especially are worried about terrorism.  I would like to reassure you all that we would not take the children if we felt at all worried for their safety.

I have spoken to the class and they all seem happy to go.

Could I just remind parents to return trip permission letters and green forms giving permission for the adventure playground use etc.

Thank you

Hello children and families,

Welcome back to school and especially to year 3. I hope that you all had an amazing, relaxing summer break.

The children have returned to school ready to learn many new skills, they are enthusiastic and have settled really well into the daily routine. I would like to inform you of our topics this term and to remind you of our expectations.

Firstly our history topic this half term is Ancient Egypt, we will be learning all about Egyptian life, culture and art. This will be enhanced by our trip to Birmingham museum and Art Gallery on 2nd October.

The science topics this half term are rocks, fossils and soils and animals and humans. If children have rocks or fossils that they would like to share with the class I am happy for them to bring them in, please put them in a named box so that they don't get mixed up with the class resources.

The class will continue to have music lessons with Mrs Smith on a Tuesday afternoon, MFL will now be taught by Miss Grattage.

As you are aware we go swimming on a Wednesday morning from this week until 29th November, please ensure that all ear rings and jewellery is removed before school and that girls have swimming hats. Goggles are allowed as long as a permission slip has been completed and returned to school.

PE this term is on a Thursday afternoon. Outdoor kits will need to be provided as it is becoming colder now that Autumn is around the corner.

In class we are having a huge push on independence, the children need to develop their independence in all areas, they are being rewarded daily for this.

The children have all completed the accelerated reader test to determine the level of book they need to be reading, if you have any questions regarding this scheme please do not hesitate to contact myself or Mr Ormesher. Homework is sent out on a Friday and needs to be completed and returned by Thursday of the following week.

All children need to have a water bottle in school at all times please, these will be sent home on a Friday so that they can be cleaned properly.

Finally, I you need to contact me at any time please do not hesitate to email or phone the school office. My email address is: jmoore@cooperperry.staffs.sch.uk
